Basic Functions

Assists patients, visitors, providers and office staff in a courteous and friendly manner. Performs all duties efficiently and timely, while maintaining a positive patient flow. Serves as an office liaison when required.

Provides front line duties and support in a physician practice/outpatient setting. Registers patients for office visits, collects payment for services rendered and completes all insurance billing and/or follow up on patient account. Serve as office liaison when required. This position involves direct patient association. Check in/check out. Schedule office appointments. Verify insurance. Answer phones. Enters patient data into computer.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a related field that involves administrative support and customer service activities or successful completion of a Medical Office Administrative Assistant certificate program.
  • General knowledge of medical ethics and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical insurance, ICD-9 and CPT coding preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks in a pressured environment.
  • Proficient computer skills with emphasis on accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse population, handles stressful situations and critical thinking skills.
  • Medical Terminology
  • 2+ years experience in a medical setting, insurance environment, or related field.

Medical Office Technician - Certified Medical Assistant

Basic Functions

Position provides assistance to patients and providers with direct and indirect patient care. Medical Office Technician/Certified Medical Assistant works under the direction of the clinical provider and office manager.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited CAAHEP or ABHES Certified Medical Assistant course & registry by American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
  • General knowledge of medical ethics and confidentiality.
  • Zero to six months experience under the supervision of a physician in a clinical medical office setting with phlebotomy and medication administration
  • Medical Terminology
  • Basic first aid knowledge and current CPR certification.
